A-Level Results 2018
Mendip Studio Sixth Form students are celebrating another excellent set of A Level results. A stunning 96% of students were retained between Year 12 & 13, 39% achieved grades A*-B, 62% A*-C and the average grade achieved by all students was grade C.
Not only are our students going to the best universities in the country, but we are also celebrating students taking up degree level apprenticeships with National and international organisations.
Some examples of the tremendous achievements of our students include; Toby achieved A*AA and will be reading mathematics at University of Exeter; and Amy achieved AAA and will read Geography at the University of Edinburgh.
We would also like to thank a number of students, including our Head Girl, Amy; Head Boy, George; and Prefects, Darcey, Freddie and Lauren. These students, as well as achieving brilliant sets of results, have made outstanding contributions to the wider life of the school through extra-curricular participation and leadership.
Natasha Fear, Achievement Team Leader, said “Not only have we seen some amazing results this year, we are also so proud of how our Year 13 students have embraced all of the opportunities that Mendip Studio School has to offer. The results are well deserved and the students will be missed”.
George, student, said:
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Writhlington. I am overjoyed with my results and I am looking forward to taking up my place at King’s College, London. During my time in Sixth Form, I made friends for life and have so many wonderful memories. All I can say is, ‘thank you to the staff for helping me to succeed.”
Amy, student, said:
“I am so pleased with my results and cannot wait to go to Edinburgh to study Geography. Writhlington has given me so many opportunities to do amazing things: Three Peaks, Gold DofE, Ten Tors 55 Mile, CCF and Head Girl – and to top it off I have walked away with 3 A grades. I couldn’t have done it without the support from my teachers and family and I am so glad that I chose Writhlington for my Sixth Form studies.”
Mark Bridges, Head of Sixth Form, said:
“In a period of change and challenge within the exam system, I could not be happier or more proud of how our students have achieved. They have been a fantastic year group, who have added a great deal to the school. They are a credit to themselves and their parents. I wish them all the best for the future and look forward to hearing what they get up to as they move on to their new adventures”.
