Year 12 Work Experience – Grofar
We are using an innovative new careers system called “Grofar” to assist with this year’s work experience.
Grofar will provide NAME with a range of web-based tools to assist students in their journey through school and towards career choices. These include tools such as:
- Careers Action planning
- Skills profiling
- Research tools
- Careers diary and events
- Work experience
All of these tools are housed on the Internet and can be accessed from any Internet-connected computer or mobile with a web-browser. No special software is required.
Students have been sent emails inviting them to create an account and a representative from Grofar came into school yesterday to give a demonstration of how the process works and, along with tutors, supported students during their Life Skills lesson. Students will be able to enter the details of their chosen work placement and this will then be verified by school before the placement commences.
The dates for work experience this year are from Monday 16th until Friday 20th July and/or Monday 3rd until Friday 7th September. We understand that some organisations may not be able to take students on these dates and therefore students can do work experience during other dates if these have been agreed by Ms Taggart or Mr Bridges.
Before, during and after the placement students will complete a digital “logbook” covering all aspects of the placement including setting targets, health and safety, induction and a diary of their experiences including the ability to upload photos of their time with the employer.
At the end of the placement the Grofar system will be used to capture feedback from students and the employer and the final work experience logbook will be available to download and save.
If you would like any further information then please contact me. Students can log in to Grofar at www.grofar.com and via the school website and I am available to give advice and support them to find a placement, they just need to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to book an appointment.
