Caterer of the Year

Writhlington School has been awarded the Jones Food Solutions Caterer of the Year award.

Creating menus for school lunches is an art form, with all the government guidelines and recommended daily allowances, chefs across the country work tirelessly creating menus that tempt students to try new dishes, exploring flavours and new foods whilst sticking to strict rules.

Writhlington Catering Manager, Gary Monger, has been recognised for his exceptional services to catering, by catering experts, Jones Food Solutions. Writhlington was joined as finalists by Norton Hill, Somervale, Wells Blue School and King’s Bruton.

Executive Head Teacher, Mark Everett commented,

‘We are very pleased to have be recognised for our catering provision, as well as providing catering on site for Writhlington and Mendip Studio School.

After just 15 months of service, Writhlington Kitchen has been awarded the 5* Food Standards Award as well as  the Director of Public Health Award for Healthy Eating at Peasedown Primary School.

Catering Manager, Gary Monger commented

‘I am so proud of my team, they have had an incredibly busy 15 months helping me transform menus and create new and inspiring dishes. We are also incredibly busy with private functions, especially with Christmas coming up – but you can’t beat the buzz of a busy kitchen.’
