OFSTED Success

Mendip Studio School has received the outcome of its recent Ofsted inspection; it is a “Good” school with particular strengths in pastoral care, teaching and the curriculum. The school provides opportunities to develop expertise through specialist subjects.

The Inspectors were particularly impressed with the students’ attitudes to learning and praised the mixed age Research & Development sessions which develop the students’ problem solving and people skills. The school’s emphasis on links with industry, careers guidance and work experience were also noted as key features that meet students’ needs for an ever changing world of work.

Mendip Studio School shares a campus with Writhlington School and the teaching, leadership and pastoral support across both schools means that students have the benefit of the shared facilities and curriculum opportunities The inspection outcome is a testament to the hard work, talent and commitment of all staff across the campus.

What makes Mendip stand out when compared with all other studio schools nationally, and locally, is the international dimension of the school, for example working with the James Dyson Foundation and schools in Chicago on an interactive, collaborative, international Engineering project.

Headteacher, Bruce Hain commented:

“We are extremely proud of our students and look forward to the summer’s results for Year 11 and Year 13 students. Our students make the school.”
