Students Win Summer Scholarships

Students at Writhlington and Mendip Studio School have been accepted on prestigious Summer Schools at some of the top Universities and establishments in the country.

Students applied through a number of charitable trusts – The Smallpiece Trust, Arkwright Scholarships Trust and the Engineering Development Trust all of which provide hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths taster courses.

The courses are run by inspirational academic leaders and industry specialists and give students the opportunity to find out more about the exciting career opportunities open to them and what a degree course might lead to, as well as hands on experience.

Year 12 Student commented:

‘I am so excited to have been selected to take part, the application process was tough and we had to go through various rounds in order to gain a place.

I feel very proud and privileged to have been accepted. I think its opportunities like these that really help shape our futures, we have brilliant and inspiring teachers in the classroom, but getting out there and experiencing first hand what university life is like really motivates you to be the best.’
