It was a momentous day in the short history of Norton Radstock Ameteur Boxing Club as Mendip Studio School Student, Maxwell Francis, was selected to represent Somerset and Bristol County in the county match up against Devon.
Boxing Coach Sean said,
‘This was a huge honour for the club and for Max, it meant a great deal to us coming from such a small club like ours, that one of our own has been recognised for their potential.
Hopefully this has opened door for more of our boxers coming through and they will be inspired and hopefully selected for future county team matches.’
Maxwell worked very hard after losing the first round to a strong contestant from Torbay. Both went for the win and Maxwell came back in strong in the second and third to take the decision by a close split-points verdict.
Head of PE, Ali Weeks Commented:
‘ We are incredibly proud of this exceptional young man and his achievements. Maxwell has a real passion for Boxing, as well as being a fantastic all round sporting talent. We are really pleased for Maxwell and his hardworking club for being recognised, and we wish him every success in future competitions’.
