Students at Mendip and Writhlington Sixth Form have the best start to the new academic year, what better way to get to know your new classmates than by group activities and extreme sports on the Isle of Wight.
Over one hundred Writhlington & Mendip Studio School Year 12 students had a fantastic few days away on the Isle of Wight undertaking a range of adventurous training activities as part of the National Citizenship Service programme.
On their return, students have thrown themselves into a 4 week programme of Charity Fundraising and social action projects. Students will put in a minimum of 30 hours voluntary community work including hosting film nights, washing cars and raising money for local charities.
Head of Sixth Form, mark Bridges commented,
‘ This is an amazing experience for our students and a great opportunity for my Sixth Form team to get to know the new cohort. Students are really passionate about the community and wanting to raise money and I have no doubt that will continue far beyond the NCS programme. ‘
