Micro-Tyco is a month long entrepreneurial challenge that enables students to practice and learn fundamental business principles in a safe, ‘micro’ environment. Teams from schools and universities have one month to turn £1 seed capital into as much money as possible for WildHearts charity.
WildHearts is a charitable organisations that offers micro-grants to young entrepreneurs in the developing world, helping them to create sustainable jobs, employability opportunities and apprenticeships through Micro-Tyco.
With the help of Micro-Tyco, young people across the world are able to unleash their talents and develop their entrepreneurial thinking, resourcefulness and teamwork.
Teams from Writhlington a took part, creating a fun competitive edge as they came coming up with lucrative business plans to help them succeed in the challenge and raise money for charity. Participants received world class business training from the Micro-Tyco Mentors including Lord Digby Jones and Sir Tom Hunter.
Year 12 student Freddie Pascoe commented:
‘ It gave really great insight into the business world and made us really get into the entrepreneurial spirit. It has certainly been a fantastic learning opportunity, learning about the real value of money in the real world.’
A group of five Year 12 students not only stood out amongst their peers but also took national success against other school and universities, winning themselves a place on the highly coveted Deloitte Summer ASPIRE work experience programme.

We are incredibly proud of all our students who took part. The Deloitte Aspire programme is a fantastic opportunity and highly sought after. Students have been invited to attend an award ceremony in Cardiff where they will get to share their experiences and meet other inspiring entrepreneurs.
