Our Students Provide First Aid

As part of their Level 3 BTEC IT course our students undertake a project for local businesses. This ‘hands-on’ experience allows them to develop all the skills they require to deliver a practical business project, from initial concept meetings through project planning, development and ultimately the delivery of a finished product that meets their customer’s expectations.

We are delighted to announce that our Year 12 students will be working with First Compressions, a First Aid training company to help develop and implement their social media marketing strategy. The initial meeting saw 13 students meet with company owner, Geoff White, late last week. They are extremely excited and looking forward to working as a team to plan, develop and implement a successful social media campaign, using Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Hannah Hudson said “I really enjoy being able to work with real life businesses; rather than made up scenarios. I am sure that it will help me in my future career.”

Harvey Chapman commented that “it was nice to have a conversation in person, with a client. It is also something very different to my other subjects. I feel as though the experience has already improved my confidence, undoubtedly, this will help me in the future.”

Tom Attfield Head of Computing said “we are really proud of the hard work our staff and students do when they have the opportunity to work with local organisations. We know that students learn a great deal from the experience, as evidenced by the grades they achieve. Students show great professionalism in working with businesses and charities. The experience builds their confidence and other soft skills that employers and higher education establishments tell us are vital in the modern world.”

Mark Everett Headteacher commented “I am really delighted that our students are able to support such a worthwhile endeavour, I know they are really looking forward to developing their skills.”

We are very proud of our collaborations with local businesses, this approach has ensured that over the last 3 years, every student on the course has achieved a Distinction for their internal course UNITS.
